Rua Associates is pleased to announce the successful sale of Petra Electronic Manufacturing to Westshore Design .
Petra Electronic Manufacturing is a West Michigan-based printed circuit board and electronic assembly manufacturer with extensive design, prototyping, and testing capabilities. In the early 90’s Jack Doornbos was working as a quality and operations manager for a large circuit board manufacturer in Michigan, which was at the time primarily doing work for the defense industry. When the owners of the company decided to consolidate their operations and sell off its small commercial side of the business, Jack saw an opportunity. In 1996 Jack purchased some of the company’s assets and established Petra Electronic Manufacturing with the initial goal of meeting the needs of a small group of the inherited commercial clients and gaining their trust.
Westshore Design CEO and President Gary Van Dyke said the acquisition allows the company to “enhance our ability to offer superior solutions for a broad set of new customers in a variety of new markets.” Westshore Design (owned by GVD Industries) was founded in 2003, as a manufacturer of embedded controls, electronic circuit boards, LED vision lighting, outdoor LED lighting, and instrumentation products.
